Program Goal
This legal study tour is planned to provide both formal instruction and meetings between American attorneys and judges and their colleagues in Egypt. By comparing the legal systems and actual legal programs we plan to provide our registrants with relevant knowledge about the problems of functioning in cross cultural environments.
About CLE Approval
This activity is approved for California minimum continuing legal education credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of 5 hours and the Corporation For Professional Conferences, Inc. certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education prescribed by the rules and regulations of the State Bar of California governing minimum continuing legal education. We anticipate that the trip will qualify for at least 5.0 hours for Continuing Legal Credit for Pennsylvania, California and other states.
About Your Final Report
Shortly after the completion of your program you will receive a final report detailing all educationally related time during the study tour. Your report can be used as a professional diary and to verify CLE credit as required. Your final report is designed to conform to the California Bar Association’s M.C.L.E. requirements.

Each-suite sized cabin has a private bath with bath tub, hair dryer, in-house music, air conditioning and great views of the Nile. The dining room and lounge feature nightly entertainment. Day 1 We depart JFK?airport, New York for Cairo in the early evening. There is full in-flight meal service.
We depart for Egypt at 6:30PM via Egyptair’s non-stop flight to Cairo.
Day 2 (B,D) We arrive in Cairo and are taken to the Grand Hyatt Hotel
This evening we socialize at a welcome dinner.
We arrive in Cairo this afternoon, are met and assisted through customs and transported to our hotel. The afternoon is free to shake off jet lag. This evening we socialize at a welcome dinner.
About The Cairo Grand Hyatt Hotel
The 716 room Grand Hyatt Cairo, Egypt is a luxury landmark hotel situated on Roda Island, a peaceful haven on the Nile River. The hotel enjoys a perfect location in the center of the commercial district of Cairo, close to Cairo's many cultural and tourist attractions. Among its amenities are twelve restaurants including Cairo’s only revolving restaurant. Rooms feature high-speed Internet access, voicemail, air-conditioning, alarm clocks, coffeemakers, refrigerators, hairdryers and bathroom amenities, free newspapers, cable TV, and in-room movies. Day 3 (B, L) Today we visit the ancient cities of Memphis and Sakkara, then visit the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. Tonight we enjoy “Sound and Light Show” depicting the history of ancient Egypt. Grand Hyatt Hotel
This morning we travel back in time and visit the ancient capital of Egypt at Memphis. Here will see the gigantic statue of Ramses II, the Temple of Ptah and the ancient Sphinx. We will then move to the old Necropolis of Sakkara where, in the shifting desert sands, stand the oldest Pyramids known to man. We will visit the tomb of Ptahotep, the Serapeum, the famous Pyramid of Zoser. Next we visit the picturesque Mena House Hotel and enjoy lunch. Next we visit one of the seven wonders of the world, the Pyramids of Giza. When you face the Great Sphinx as it silently defends this ancient resting place of the Pharaohs of Egypt, you will be swept back thousands of years into the very beginning of civilization. Tonight, we enjoy a sound and light show that dramatizes the history of ancient Egypt.
Day 4 (B,D) We meet with Egyptian lawyers, then visit the Egyptian Museum (including the Tutankhamen exhibit) and Old Cairo. Grand Hyatt Hotel
This morning we meet with Egyptian lawyers. Next we visit the Egyptian Museum. Incidentally, Egyptian things are so ancient that a very special area of studies was organized to study them. Known as Egyptology, this area of science is devoted only to the study of ancient Egyptian artifacts. During this comprehensive tour of the Egyptian Museum, we will learn about the ancient sites and civilizations we visit during our Nile River Cruise. We’ll also see the famed Tutankhamun Exhibit.
This afternoon, we tour old Cairo. Among the sights we’ll see are Ben Ezra Synagogue, Moalka Church, where Virgin Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus took refuge.
Day 5 (B, L, D) This morning we meet again with our colleagues at a local practice. This afternoon we have lunch, then visit The Citadel, Alabaster Sutan Hassan Mosques and the Khalili Bazaar. This evening we enjoy dinner and entertainment on a dinner cruise around Cairo. Grand Hyatt Hotel
Day 6 (B,L,D) We fly to Aswan and board our cruise ship and begin our five day, four night Nile River Cruise. We will have outside cabins with private facilities. (King of Thebes Nile Cruiser)
We travel to Aswan this morning and our baggage will be transported to our cruise ship ahead of us. Aswan has long been a favorite resort because of its beautiful location. Here we will board an ancient felucca sail boat and sail to the Botanical Gardens of the Aga Khan Mausoleum, Elephantine Island, Kitchener's Island. This evening is reserved for professional activity.
Day 7 (B,L,D) We sightsee in Aswan and then cruise to Edfu where we spend overnight on board. King of Thebes Nile Cruiser
Today we take in the sights at Aswan visiting the Aswan High Dam, the Old Dam, the Philae Temple and the Granite Quarries. Incidentally, the Philae Temple complex was rescued from flooding and restored on Ailka Island, This massive restoration happened after 1972.
Next we cruise to Edfu, via Kom Ombo Temple. In Kom Ombo we visit the Ptolomic Temple, built in the early second century and dedicated to the two gods of Obos (the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon headed Haroeris). We see the altar of sacrifice, secret crypt and the pool of crocodiles. There’s more entertainment tonight.
Day 8 (B,L,D) We travel by horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus, the best preserved of all the large Egyptian Temples. Later, we sail to Luxor. Overnight on board. King of Thebes Nile Cruiser
Today we take carriages and visit the 2000 year old Temple of Horus, the falcon headed god. This temple is almost as it was, and is one of the the best preserved examples of Ptolemaic art in Egypt; the best preserved of all Egyptian temples dedicated to Horus. Next, we continue to Esna and Luxor.
At Esna we visit the Temple of Khnum, located beneath the surface of the earth, and dedicated to the ram-headed potter god who fashioned beasts, birds and men from Nile River clay. This temple is well preserved and restored. The drawings within it are representations of a Pharaoh found in Egypt. We overnight in Luxor.
Day 9 (B,L,D) We cross the Nile at Luxor and visit the valley of the Kings and Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. This afternoon we visit The Avenue of The Sphinxes, Temple of Luxor and Karnak Temple complex. King of Thebes Nile Cruiser
After breakfast we cross by ferry over to the West Bank of the Nile river, a vast burial city that is dedicated to the eternal afterlife central to the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians. They had a precise concept of the afterlife, and observed elaborate rituals to enter into eternity. Our visit will give insight into these ancient ways. Among the sights that we will see on the West Bank are: the Necropolis of Thebes, the Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings (with tombs dating back to the 20th Dynasty) the Tomb of Tutankhamun; smallest of the tombs in the valley, and the tombs of Amenophis III and Ramses VI. We will also see the largest and most splendid tomb in the valley - that of Seti I. Nearby is the Valley of the Queens where we will see the beautifully decorated tombs of Queen Nefertari, and Queen Nefertiti. Then visit the Tomb of Nacht, and the Tombs of Menna and Ramose, and Luxor Temple, once paved in silver and still unforgettable.
Later, we visit the immense and magnificent 4, 000 year old Karnak Temple of the Sun God Amon (a vast and complex labyrinth of alleyways, sanctuaries and courtyards). Tonight there is more entertainment.
Day 10 (B, D) Late this morning we disembark and are taken to the Sonesta Hotel for overnight. Sonesta Hotel

Day 11 (B, D) Early afternoon flight to Cairo and the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Tonight we have dinner with an Egyptian family. Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Day 12 (B, Inflight meals) Early this morning we return to New York, arriving there in the mid-afternoon.
After breakfast, we go to Cairo Airport for our return flight to New York where inflight meals will be served. We arrive at JFK Airport in the mid-afternoon.
